Jun. 5, 2019 Ecology General Permits

Issues 3 Revised or Modified

On June 5th, Ecology issued three revised/modified general permits. We:

· Revised the Aquatic Mosquito Control General Permit

· Modified the Aquatic Noxious Weed Management General Permit

· Modified the Aquatic Plant and Algae Management General Permit

All three permits will be effective on July 5, 2019. You may download the final permits, response to comments, fact sheets, and other supporting documents from our website.

Aquatic Mosquito Control General Permit

The Aquatic Mosquito Control General Permit conditionally authorizes discharges of larvicides and indirect discharges of adulticides to surface waters of Washington State, to control mosquitoes. Ecology accepted public comment on the draft permit and supporting documents from March 6 to April 19, 2019. We offered public workshops and hearings via an online webinar on April 9 and in person in Ellensburg on April 10, 2019.

Aquatic Noxious Weed Management General Permit

The Aquatic Noxious Weed Management General Permit regulates the use of herbicides, adjuvants, and marker dyes to control Washington State listed noxious weeds and Washington State quarantine-listed weeds. It covers marine and freshwater applications that may indirectly enter surface waters of Washington State.

Ecology accepted public comment on the draft permit and supporting documents from Nov. 7 to Dec. 21, 2018. We offered public workshops and hearings via an online webinar and in person in Lacey on Dec. 10, 2018.

Aquatic Plant and Algae Management General Permit

The Aquatic Plant and Algae Management General Permit regulates the use of herbicides, algaecides, adjuvants, and phosphorous inactivation products for control of noxious weeds, native nuisance plants, algae, and phosphorous in surface waters of Washington State.

Ecology accepted public comment on the draft permit and supporting documents from Nov. 7 to Dec. 21, 2018. We offered public workshops and hearings via an online webinar and in person in Lacey on Dec. 10, 2018.

Your Right to Appeal the Permits

You may appeal these permits to the Pollution Control Hearings Board (PCHB) within 30 days of the receipt of this permit. Our appeal of the general permit focus sheet describes how to appeal permits.
