Ecology: Bioassessment in Washington - Wednesday, November 2 (10:00am - 12:00pm)

Ever wonder how Ecology uses aquatic macroinvertebrate data to evaluate stream health?

Chad Larson, Stream Ecologist with the Environmental Assessment Program, will be doing a 2-hour webinar on the use of bioassessment in Washington. Macroinvertebrate monitoring has been conducted in Washington for several decades, and the science continues to evolve in its use in interpreting the mandates of the Clean Water Act to protect the biological integrity of the state’s streams and rivers. Chad will discuss the history of bio-monitoring in Washington and describe recent efforts at Ecology to conduct state-wide habitat and biological monitoring, as well as the development of models for assessing stream biological condition.
