Center for Watershed Protection webcast "Tree Crediting for Stormwater" - Wednesday, June 19 (10:00am - 11:30am)

Since 2009, the Center for Watershed Protection has been providing high quality webcasts for stormwater and watershed professionals. Since we began, we estimate that more than 20,000 professionals have participated in the Center's webcasts. Webcasts are hosted through Adobe Connect and run 1.5 hours long.

Tree Crediting for Stormwater is the focus of this webcast. The water quality benefits of trees have been documented, but we are still working on quantifying the runoff and pollutant-reducing impacts of trees as a stormwater best management practice (BMP). Part of this uncertainty is how to "credit" urban trees for runoff and pollutant load reduction. This webcast will review ways to model the effects of urban trees and provide examples of their integration into state and local compliance systems for stormwater management, TMDLs and other water quality requirements. The webcast will highlight application of the Center for Watershed Protection's stormwater performance-based credit to quantify the impact of urban trees on reducing combined sewer overflows in Buffalo, NY, and the Green Infrastructure Center's modeling of trees' ability to reduce runoff in Charleston, SC.

Speakers:
Chris Lepetiuk, Green Infrastructure Center
