What’s wrong with the water?
Why are the animals sick or
moving away? The water may
be polluted. One cause of water
pollution is stormwater pollution
which is caused by things like trash,
dirt, leaves and grass clippings, oil,
sewage and chemicals.
S tormwater Pollution happens because water becomes
contaminated with stuff like trash, dirt, oil, sewage
and chemicals.
H ey Alex! Don’t drink that water! Mom told you that
it’s not safe. It’s polluted.
B
ut I’m so thirsty.
There’s not much water here in the desert, whined Alex.
I know Alex, but if you drink that, you’ll get sick,
explained Carly. If I don’t drink it, I’ll die of thirst,
whined Alex.
B ack at the burrow, Mom was with the younger
bunnies, Dusty, and Cota.

Mom looked worried.
What’s wrong, Mom? asked Carly. The pond is polluted
now too, Mom whispered. Oh no, said Alex, who overheard
her whisper. What will we do? We have to move again, C to find clean water, said Mom. ome on Alex,
let’s get back to the burrow, coaxed Carly. Mom will
be waiting for us. I sure hope she has something to
drink, gasped Alex.
