ISGP Early Input: Ad Hoc Group
Overview
The Washington Department of Ecology is expected to renew the Industrial Stormwater General Permit early. In the past, this permit has typically been renewed on a 5-year cycle and was expected to be renewed on January 1, 2030. Ecology has indicated that renewal is now expected in January 2029.
As part of this process, Ecology is seeking early input into the permit reissuance, and the Washington Stormwater Center is facilitating an Ad Hoc process to help permittees shape the permit they manage.

Basic Structure
- The Washington Stormwater Center will facilitate the identification and creation of subgroups that will focus on specific permit topics
- Each subgroup will have a leadership team to organize meetings and recommendations
- Each subgroup will meet independently to complete a recommendation template
- Recommendations will then be presented to the larger group to be finalized
- Final recommendations will be presented and submitted to Ecology
Who should Participate?
This process is focused on industrial stormwater permittees, their consultants, and others with direct experience implementing the Industrial Stormwater General Permit.
The goal is to gather practical feedback from the people responsible for complying with the permit on a day-to-day basis.
Other interested parties, including NGOs, community groups, agencies, Tribes, and members of the public, will have opportunities to provide input through Ecology’s formal permit development and public comment process.
