Model Ordinance and Code Clearinghouse
The Washington Stormwater Center is developing an online Model Ordinance & Code Clearinghouse, anticipated to launch in 2027. The Clearinghouse will provide local governments and stormwater professionals with model ordinances, code language, and supporting resources to help communities develop and improve stormwater regulations.
About the Clearinghouse
The Model Ordinance & Code Clearinghouse is designed to increase the capacity and effectiveness of communities that develop stormwater codes and ordinances by providing examples of model language and implementation approaches from across Washington and beyond.
In addition to a searchable database of model ordinances and codes, the Clearinghouse will include companion guidance and policy resources covering topics such as:
- Cooperative enforcement approaches
- Working with private landowners
- Behavioral insights and behavior change strategies
- Partnerships and collaborative implementation
- Additional policy and implementation guidance
This resource is intended to support communities as they develop effective, practical, and locally appropriate stormwater regulations.
Project Team
Development of the Clearinghouse is guided by an advisory team and subject matter experts and consultants who are helping shape the framework, resources, and long-term vision for this community resource.
