Tire Wear Particles – Why We Need Them, What Risks They Pose, and What We’re Doing About It (7/25/23)

The Pacific NW Chapter of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (PNW-SETAC) is collaborating with its West Coast colleagues, So CAL SETAC and No CAL SETAC, to present a seminar series on 6PPD Q.

The seminars kick off on July 25th with Jamie McNutt from U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association, USTMA Tires 101.

PNW-SETAC’s Board has several Washington Stormwater Center Board staff and the organization is enjoying making entreaties into the broader cultural, social, and contextual ramifications of contaminant science. At our conference in late May this year, we engaged in a rousing discussion about sustainability and were honored to hear from Minal Mistry from Oregon DEQ who spoke to the underpinnings of sustainability, and Teryn Yazdi from Beyond Toxics addressed environmental justice and the role of contaminants in that trajectory.
