Stop 1: Boeing Development Center
Boeing has implemented engineered media filtration to manage stormwater runoff under the Industrial Stormwater General Permit. Attendees will see how filtration beds and monitoring systems reduce industrial stormwater pollutants and support long-term permit compliance. The tour will highlight the treatment process and the data-driven monitoring approach that keeps systems performing over time. The visit will provide a real-world look at how facilities are meeting permit requirements while improving stormwater quality.
*Note as mentioned above there are additional spots for folks who wish to only tour the Boeing facility.
Stop 2: Lake Union Ship Canal TAPE testing facility
The Lake Union Ship Canal testing facility is home to Washington’s TAPE program (Technology Assessment Protocol – Ecology), which certifies emerging stormwater treatment technologies for use under state permits. Attendees will learn how the program evaluates performance through controlled testing and review some of the innovative systems currently being studied. This stop offers a unique opportunity to see how new tools are vetted before becoming approved stormwater best management practices.
Lunch:
We will stop between stop 2 and stop 3 for a quick lunch-lunch will not be provided, however we will stop where folks have the option to purchase food or sit and eat a packed lunch.
Stop 3: Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station
This new state-of-the art facility treats up to 70 million gallons of combined rainwater and wastewater during heavy winter rain events.
