Overview: Released with the 2024 Municipal Stormwater General Permits, the new Eastern Washington Stormwater Management Manual (SWMMEW) provides updated standards and guidance for stormwater management. Attendees will explore essential changes between the 2019 and 2024 versions, including updated definitions, UIC guidelines, exemptions, and application of the eight Core Elements. This presentation will also discuss Ecology’s interpretations of the manual and provide background on new tools like New Development and Redevelopment Flow Charts, helping stormwater professionals stay up-to-date and prepared for 2027 implementation. - Everyone Loves Trees!

However, Tacoma’s urban forest faces challenges, with some neighborhoods seeing fewer trees than others. Join Lowell Wyse of the Tacoma Tree Foundation as he shares insights into ongoing efforts to restore and expand Tacoma’s urban canopy, focusing on neighborhoods that need the most shade and cooling.
