SAM Mobile Business Study

Some mobile businesses have unique challenges related to pollution prevention due to their mobile nature and working at dispersed sites in multiple jurisdictions. A  Stormwater Action Monitoring (SAM) Study on Mobile Business Source Control and Coordination created and tested resources for municipal stormwater permittees to address stormwater source control activities related to mobile businesses. The Study—which was funded by the permittees via the SAM program and implemented by King County, Aspect Consulting, and Herrera Environmental Consultants—provided data analysis, tools, and resources to help permittees identify, inspect, and coordinate municipal source control activities in the mobile business sector.

One of the resources created in this SAM Study was outreach brochures for three different types of mobile business activities: mobile automobile repair, commercial landscaping, and pressure washing. These educational brochures are intended for municipal stormwater staff to give to mobile businesses during source control inspections. Each brochure is available in print and web versions and has been translated into Spanish.
